Acer Liquid Jade S Offers 64-Bit Capability

Acer PhonesAcer has unveiled the Liquid Jade S, which is a direct improvement over the original Liquid Jade. It is the company’s first ever smartphone model with 64-bit capability, thanks to the 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6752M octa-core processor. The phone should be available initially in Acer’s home country Taiwan for 6,990 TWD or about $225.

This shouldn’t be a bad price for a phone that’s equipped with 4G LTE connectivity, 5-inch 720p display, IPS panel, DTS audio technology and dual-SIM slots. There are also 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, 5Mp front-facing camera and 13Mp rear-facing camera. A 2300mAh battery is included inside the 7.78mm chassis and the whole device weighs in at 116 grams.

The device should run Android 4.4 KitKat and we could assume that there will be a future upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Apart for a release in Taiwan, the Acer Liquid Jade S should be available initially in India and other markets as well. The actual release date will be on December 18 and a release in other Asian markets should take place shortly afterwards. As an example, Acer India website has quietly added the devices in its online catalog.
