Android 5.0 Lollipop is Coming to Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy S5Nexus smartphone models have started to get the new Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system updates; while, users of other Android-based models are waiting to get the same thing. It is generally believed that these people will obtain the new update weeks or even months after the initial introduction. The Samsung-centric website, SamMobile, has offered us an early look on how the South Korean company the Lollipop with its proprietary TouchWiz UI.

It is a good thing to know that Samsung embraces many wonderful features of Lollipop, such as the actionable, card-based notifications. However, Samsung’s version of the Lollipop also skips some of the design enhancements, such as shadows that are used to convey depth. In the end, we get a mix of Samsung’s somewhat cartoony visual characteristics with visual changes of the Lollipop.

Because Android is an open system, it is not something peculiar if some manufacturers decide that they don’t want to adopt all the features of the Lollipop. It depends on individual user on whether they like the new Lollipop-based TouchWiz design, compared to both the original Lollipop and the earlier TouchWiz designs. In general, the Lollipop is inching towards all Samsung Galaxy S5 users; although those with in-contract units may need to wait for a bit longer, because the software update needs to be modified and tested first.
