Huawei May Stop Using the Ascend Name for Its Devices

Huawei-May-Stop-Using Recent rumors suggested that Huawei may soon abandon its Ascend brand. Ascend models usually has one letter and one number, such as the Huawei Ascend P7. However, the successor of this model could be named Huawei P8, instead of Ascend P8. The phone may carry a decent 5.2-inch display with Full HD resolution. It will be powered by the home-grown Kirim 920 octa-core processor, 32GB of internal storage, 3GB of RAM and integrated fingerprint scanner.

According to recently distributed pictures, the P8 will be clad in metal. Huawei may unveil the phone in Barcelona at  MWC event. At the same opportunity, Huawei may also introduce the D8, also without the Ascend brand. It will be a more improved model with 5.5-inch Quad HD display, Kirin 950 64-bit processor 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM. The whole shebang may be available for about $800, which is more expensive than the iPhone 6.

The decision to drop the Ascend name could be in response to concerns that the company’s naming conventions are a bit too complex and confusing for consumers. So, naming aside; these devices could still be respectable models, even without their Ascend naming.
