Comparison: Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5

iPhone 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S5

Apple’s once mysterious iPhone 6 is no longer hidden behind the veil of mystery and now we can perform comparisons with other high-end devices in the market. With the rather complicated love and hate relationship between Apple and Samsung in recent years, it would be interesting to compare the new iPhone 6 with the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Everyone expects that the iPhone 6 will stack up well against its Android competitor and here are a few facts:

    • Design: The iPhone 6 boasts its premium quality with the single aluminium block design. As comparison, the Galaxy feels somewhat plasticky with its polycarbonate encasing. The iPhone 6 is also thinner at 6.9mm thick and the Galaxy S5 at 8.1mm thick.

    • Display: The iPhone 6 maintains the pixel density at 326ppi when compared to the iPhone 5S. This requires a higher resolution at 1334 x 750. The Galaxy S5 offers 432ppi in pixel density with its Full HD resolution. Both displays look colourful and we probably won’t see any significant differences.

  • Processor and RAM: The iPhone 6 has A8 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz with 64-bit support and it’s paired with 1GB of RAM. The Galaxy S5 has 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. However, iPhone models usually perform better in benchmarks regardless of their lower clocks.
