MediaTek MT6753 is Introduced

MediaTek-MT6753MediaTek is looking for ways to expand into the western market and it needs to provide solutions that perform well compared with the Qualcomm Snapdragon series, at least the Snapdragon 410 models. The new MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor with its Mali T720 GPU could provide excellent solutions at an affordable price tag.

The processor is based on the ARM Cortex A53 architecture and it is a real octa-core solution with eight cores that could operate simultaneously. The chipset should offer full network connectivity and among its laundry list of network suppers are EDGE, TD-SCDMA, HSPA+, FDD-LTE Cat. 4 and TD-LTE.

In addition, the processor has support for AVDO Rev. A, CDMA2000 1x, dual-band WiFi, low energy Bluetooth 4.0 and Miracast. However, the processor may not be able to deliver the highest possible specs, since its supports on 16Mp camera and 1080p screen resolution. It also offers video playback with H.264 format at 1080p resolution with 60fps or 30fps for reduced power usages. As a comparison, the Snapdragon 615, a platform more suitable for today’s mid-range models also has support for 2560 x 1600 WQXGA resolution. Overall, the smartphone processor should be a less capable model compared to the MT6752; but the MT6753 could be appropriate for next-generation low-cost smartphone models.
