Xiaomi May Soon Release an Affordable Leadcore-powered Smartphone

Xiaomi MI Note ProXiaomi has released the high-end Note Pro that causes many drooling over its Snapdragon 810 processor, Quad HD display and 4GB of RAM. Apparently, Xiaomi is releasing something else on the other end of the spectrum. A Leadcore-powered model has been approved by TENAA in China and it will be available for just $80. The phone should be available starting next month. Previous reports said that the phone will be priced around $65 and if it is true, Xiaomi is really going beyond its usual price-cutting strategy, even for its entry-level models.

As mentioned above, the phone will not be based on the usual Snapdragon or MediaTek chipset. Instead, it will have 1.6GHz Leadcore LC1860C quad-core processor and Mali T628 GPU. Visually, the phone looks much like the decent Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, which has different internals, such as 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor with 64-bit support and Adreno 306 GPU.

Xiaomi is currently in a rather enviable position, since it is able to trigger quite a buzz in the high-end market, while still offering some decent modes at the entry level category. Xiaomi has allocated some fund in Leadcore development, so like Huawei; it will have a steady supply of affordable processor to undercut other entry-level smartphones in the market.
